| Biography
|
Tenica came to Oriental Dance by ÒDivine Intervention.Ó She went to
try out a yoga class at the local herbal health center, at which time
the owner suggested that Tenica would really like Oriental Dance.
No obligation, no charge, just try it. She went, she saw, she fell
head over heels. It was love at first site and her life hasn«t been
the same since. Not to mention she never made it back there to another
yoga class as she quickly became hopelessly and passionately consumed
with our beautiful art.
Her enthusiasm knows no boundaries as she decided after 1 year to
persue the dance more seriously and started traveling around the world
to study, take classes or workshops with some of the best instructors
in the world of oriental dance to include: Keti Sharif (Cairo), Kaishi
Chi (NYC), Samara Hyat (Madrid), Ana Saeeda (Madrid), Denise Arias
(Argentina), Delilah (California), Soraya (Cairo), Ruth De la Huega
(La Coru–a, Spain) and Silvina (Brazil).
Tenica believes that you honor the dance most not only by devoting
time to learning it«s movements and performing it, but by also investing
the time to learn more about the culture, history and music. ÒThis
is the true richness and depth of our art.Ó She is continuously building
on her knowledge of Middle Eastern dance and culture as well as updating
her training and performing skills. She is also studying other dance
forms (Flamenco and Sevillanas), and enjoys Latin, African/Carribean,
Polynesian and Folklore. Although Oriental Dance and Flamenco are
her primary focus, she delights in the beauty of fusing the many other
different styles. |
