Tracey's Biography

Tracey has always loved to dance, with ballet and tap as a child followed by some musical theatre. But it was not until after the birth of her children that she dicovered belly dance in a local beginners class. After one class she was hooked and has spent the following years immersing herself in the study of belly dance. Tracey learnt from her local teacher, Mischelle Star, who introduced her to Keti's A-Z format. Being 4 hours from Melbourne, studying by correspondence was the only option, and Tracey has now completed both A-Z personal techniques courses and Advanced Teacher Training by correspondence. In addition to this Tracey has studied as many workshops as she can access, and while she appreciates all styles of belly dance, Egyptian folkloric dance and tribal styles hold very special places in her heart.

Tracey began teaching classes in Koroit in 2008, and has continued to deliver classes in Warrnambool, Koroit and surrounding rural areas. Koroit Belly Dance has always prided itself on its inclusive nature, making belly dance available to women of all ages, shapes, sizes and abilities. Tracey has taught kindergarten students through to women in their 70s and loves sharing the joy of her dance with the whole community. To further their inclusive and family friendly style, the Koroit Belly Dance troupe, of which Tracey is a dancer and the creative director, choose to wear very modest costumes and select dances that express the joy and creativity of belly dance while appealing to a diverse audience.

As a qualified secondary school biology teacher, Tracey has a great ability to teach and a good understanding of the human body. This, teamed with her dance and choreography skills, her love of the dance and her warm nature ensure that Tracey's classes are always fun, and she teaches in a knowledgeable and caring way, with attention to detail and the ability to break down each movement to suit all learning styles.

Tracey is also qualified to teach Pulse8 Elements and is trained in Fat Chance Belly Dance’ American Tribal Style.
