Samantha's
Biography
Samantha has studied many forms of dance throughout her life, including jazz, ballet and African tribal before making bellydance her focus. Her journey started at the local community college with 50 other beginners in 1999!......and then with Renee (Renee's Magical Belly Dancing) where her passion was ignited.
Wanting more, she continued her training with teachers such as Michaela, Jane Jardines, Dounia, Leonie Sukan, Jrisi, Kellie Harkin and Sema Yildiz in Istanbul, Turkey. As well as attending workshops with master teachers such as Belyssa, Amera, Cathryn McCormack, Terezka and Melissa Cristina.
Something was missing, though. Traditional bellydance and music just weren't for her; she wanted fast paced, quick choreographies, modern music - a workout with a difference! Attending an A-E workshop with Shahdaroba in 2004 did it for her - she'd found what she was looking for! Continuing with this training she completed the intensive A-Z Teacher Training Certificate Course with Keti Sharif and has since touched on other areas of Keti's concept - AstroBelly and World Dance Aerobics through her workshops and DVDs.
Samantha teaches several classes a week, including beginners and beyond beginner levels as well as her own style of "BellyRobics" incorporating A-Z routines. A major achievement in 2007 was joining the dance program at a private Anglican Girls School where bellydance is being introduced to the students for the first time. In addition to these commitments, Samantha has run several workshops for other Schools and for Ku-ring-gai Council Youth Services to help young women express themselves, gain body confidence and awareness in a fun environment.
Drawing inspiration from other teachers, DVD's and styles, Samantha continues to grow and develop her classes. Never one to stagnate, she is currently attending Mambocise and Bollywood classes - simply for the fun of it! |
