| Biography | Born in the Far East , settled in the Middle East - in the Gulf state of Oman and I eventually migrated Westwards to Northern Ireland. My interest in bellydance was sparked off by an Egyptian doctor colleague in the Middle East in 1991. Serious training started in London at JWAAD for which I gained a diploma. Others who have made an impact on me would be Mahmoud Reda, Khaled Mahmoud, Aida Nour and Zaza Hassan. For versatility, I enjoy Keti Sharif's style of dancing with the A to Z technique. I do work with the veil, sword, stick and sagat. Occassionally, my pet snake Habib accompanies me to work. I love all forms of Mid Eastern Dance, from sharqi, baladi, folkloric, Khaleeji to the fusion and American tribal styles that are in evolution. Dancing is very much alive and creative process that revolutionises and rejuvenates with new styles and expression - very enjoyable indeed. |
