Keti's
Biography
I developed
A-Z Original in 2002 and Advanced in 2004 as an international dance
language and system to make learning and teaching bellydance dance
easy. I originally taught A-Z Intesives in New York, London, Cairo,
Sydney, Perth and Singapore, with A-Z workshops in Paris, Amsterdam
and Brighton. Spending years living between Perth, Singapore and
Cairo, I fouded WAMED Festival and hosted it for 8 years until handing
the event over to Renate (Bellydance WA, Angle (Bellydance Central)
and Jilyan (Oasis Bellydance) and the event is going strong and
continues to develop and support the dance community.
A-Z
study courses were created in 2006. Thanks to Renate, Suzanne and
Jilyan's input, we have standardized the study courses to make it
accessible for dancers to become certified in A-Z anywhere the world
and be a part of a supportive network.
Technique is the foundation of A-Z as it teaches the student to
understand rhythm, phrasing and transitions to be able to interpret
music and choreograph or improvise with confidence. The
routines maintain cultural integrity through a vocabulary of cultural
stylisations and terminologies. It is an educational tool and also
assists the creative process.
Although I have recently retired from bellydancing to focus on the
Sphinx Festival (Egypt) and Pulse8 Fitness Programs, I enjoy being
a part of the A-Z Bellydance support network. It is wonderful to
see how dancers and teachers use the A-Z routines - the creativity
and energy that emerges always astounds me! I am happy to be a part
of the continuing growth of A-Z and am very proud of the teachers
who have developed their own creative style and used the routines
to realise a fuller potential.
