| Biography | Diana
Flame has been a registered nurse (midwife), homeopath and astrologer
for over 30 years. She has been bellydancing since 1991 and is currently
working in the maternity ward of a public hospital. She has taught
bellydancing programs to nurses, hospital staff and pregnant women
- who especially enjoy advice on how to get their pre-baby body back
through bellydance! Working as a midwife and registered nurse, Diana belives in teaching Mums-to-be the art of bellydance to facilitate the birthing process. Birthing, she says, is the essence of life, and women can use bellydancing to assist them when give birth to a child, to projects, dreams and to themselves. Through bellydance, Diana helps women express their bountiful selves, realising their rich emotional nature, powerful strength and of course - their playfulness! Diana enjoys teaching workshops called "Astrobelly", which combine a dancer's astrology with bellydance. A member of the Australian Federation of Astrologers, she creates the dancer's basic chart, and then helps the dancer understand the archetypal stories that apply to her astrology, to integrate the many parts of herself (warrior, seductress, mother, lover or child archetypes) into a whole, expressive persona. Educating through seminars, Diana helps women bring the characteristics of various female mythological and cultural archetypes to life - introducing ways of exploring how various archetypes can be the inspiration for a type of fun of 'role-playing' or 'theatrical creativity' for the dancer.
