WAMED News - As my energies are being invested in the organization and planning of the giant Sphinx Festival in Egypt, will be passing on WAMED to a group of excellent capable women to continue. Renate and friends organize the event in September 2008. I'll be saying a big goodbye and thank you to Oz.
I will be visiting Perth on a family trip, and on Sunday Aug 31st have a gathering at my family home in Dianella for my dance friends 2-3.30pm. Hope to see you there! Email for details.

Main news - the planning of the Sphinx Festival!
I am very excited at the moment, and have been working for the last few months on a new "artist's soul food" project - the Sphinx Festival @ Le Meridien, Pyramids Hotel . A culmination of dance, art, music plus Egyptology, Pharonic history and Sacred Geometry - this promises to be a spectacular international event. We launch the new annual event in Egypt next year - the Sphinx Festival, Feb 22-26, 2009!
The speakers and guest artists are incredible talents - Egyptian dance icons Mahmoud Reda and Farida Fahmy celebrate their 50th Golden Jubilee in Dance at the Festival. Farida, a Master of Dance Ethnology, is preparing several lectures for our "Esential Egypt" theme, that have never been presented before. Liza Laziza presents an "elemental" theme dance with a full Egyptian musical ensemble - as an interactive festival workshop every evening, and the Ismailia National Folk Festival Director, Maher Kamal joins us with the very best in Egyptian Classical, Baladi and Traditional musical arts.
Egyptologist Moustafa Gadalla, presents seminars on Egyptian history, Cosmology, Gods and Goddesses, plus many cutting edge topics that relate the "Heavenly Source of Music" in the arts of Ancient Egypt to today's Egyptian arts. There are many more wonderful artists and speakers flying in for this event.
The event is held at the Mena House. The festival has a limited number of roms available for festival guests, so if you wish to secure a room for the event, be sure to hurry!
