News!
Sep 2011 Sphinx Festival and A-Z Teacher Training will be held on the Red Sea.
Its nearly July and my daughter will turn one! Motherhood has changed my perspective and after 20 years, I have chosen to say farewell to the world of bellydancing and have decided to enjoy my role as support person for teachers of the A-Z courses around the world. My focus now is the Sphinx festival and developing Pulse8 (fitness programs). So its "goodbye" to a life of teaching and performing bellydance. It has been wonderful, mainly because of all the amazing people I have connected with over the years through bellydancing. However, the change in direction feels timely and I'm ready for a new role within the arts community.
Archiving Farida Fahmy's work, costume designs and her incredible life has become one of the most special things I have had the opportunity to be involved with. We're working on the upcoming seminars for the Sphinx Festival (with multimedia) and I'm currently updating the website www.faridafahmy.com and collating Reda field research images. I believe her work is valuable to the entire world of dance - past, present and future.
The theme for the 2010 festival is
Egypt's Folkloric Arts and Ethnology. The event is held in Cairo Dec 1-5 2010, with Egypt's best speakers and Ethnologists, with 5 days os seminars by Mahmoud Reda, Farida Fahmy and guests. I look forward to seeing many of you there!

The stage is set for Sep 2011 for next year's Sphinx Festival themed "Egypt Under the Stars - Celebrating the Feast, from Desert to Sea", featuring great speakers, dance workshops, desrt safaris and diving with dolphins. Following that is the international Teacher Training. I shall keep you posted!
Happy dancing,
