Biography
Heike (professional name Akasha) is a qualified JWAAD (Josephine Wise Academy of Arabic Dance) teacher – www.jwaad.com
She has promoted the physical benefits and the all-inclusive nature of Middle Eastern Dance for over 20 years and has studied various Bellydance styles with a host of teachers from around the globe.
In 2000, Heike was ‘bitten’ by the Tribal bug and has since studied with many international instructors; however her main American Tribal Style (ATS) influences are FatChanceBellyDance and Kajira Djoumahna of BlackSheepBellyDance; she is a certified BSBD level 1 Teacher – www.blacksheepbellydance.com.
Heike is also a qualified teacher of Keti Sharif’s original & advanced A-Z routines and Pulse 8 Bellydance fitness.
Heike is a director of the “Tribe of the Honeybadgers” & “The Cobras”, her advanced & student troupes respectively. She has taught and performed nationally and internationally; she draws on her extensive knowledge of the different styles such as Egyptian, Tribal, Tribal Fusion including Gothic and inspirations from her other interests and hobbies such as motorcycles, vampire movies and literature etc.
