Photos of the 2009 A-Z Teacher Training in Cairo, Egypt - organised by Keti Sharif, with teachers Suzanne teaching pattern, formation and use of routines, Paola teaching routines with various props and Keti teaching cultural aspects, modes of teaching A-Z and student learning styles.

Suzanne and Paola taught a great Saiidi choreography and all the women were wonderful! We sure had a great time and many great friendships were made. The next TT in Cairo is planned for 2011. In the meantime, keep up to date with our A-Z worldwide page to see if there is a course near you.

Thanks again to all of you who joined us - the next generation of dedicated and amazing A-Z teachers!

Comments from Keti and A-Z Teacher Training Course Participants

Suzanne Oehlers

Teaching the course participants how to use the A-Z routines in pattern and formation, Suzanne gave exciting and well structured classes. Her intensive teaching brought the best out of the participants and markedly helped improve everyone's skills level. Suzanne's friendliness, warmth, humour and attention to detail made the course both fun and inspiring. She has the ability to bring out the best in students, by focusing fully on their posture, technique and quickly notices any areas that need attention. Her skills as a national dance championship examiner come into force as she teaches A-Z Bellydance - and with it, she is a wonderfully energetic teacher with positive, encouraging comments and always has a class filled with laughter. Suzanne helps shape the dancer's overall artistic development with her aesthetic awareness and ability to nurture the strengths and subtle qualities of each individual dancer, as a soloist or within a group.

Paola Blanton

Paola Blanton taught the "Use of props" at the A-Z Bellydance Teacher Training course. She showed participants how to apply the routines while dancing with the cane, veil, finger cymbals and wings. The routines using the cane grew into a beautiful Saiidi stage choreography, as she merged creative forces with fellow teacher Suzanne. The students were delighted as they experienced Paola's wonderful teaching and ability to apply Egyptian dance aesthetics within a framework and allow the dance to unfold organically, whilst working with the skills and abilities of participants. Paola's passion, knowledge, humor and dedication to bellydancing truly enlivened the course and made it memorable for all who attended. The participants particularly enjoyed her additional information from her Physical Theatre and Duncan Dance studies, which they felt gave their dancing depth and richness.
